Insulation Rebate Programs

As of March 2025, here are the insulation rebate programs available from Mountain View Electric Association (MVEA), Colorado Springs Utilities (CSU), and Black Hills Energy (BHE):

Mountain View Electric Association (MVEA):

MVEA offers rebates for energy-efficient upgrades, including insulation, through their Energy Efficiency Rebates program. While specific rebate amounts for insulation are not detailed on their website, they provide an On-Bill Repayment (OBR) program that allows members to install qualifying energy upgrades with no upfront cost, repaying the cost through monthly payments added to their electric bill over an agreed-upon timeframe (up to 10 years).

Colorado Springs Utilities (CSU):

CSU provides substantial rebates for insulation and air sealing:

• Rebate Amounts: Up to 40% of total installation costs, with a maximum of $3,750. Individual rebates are capped at $1,250 for attic insulation, $1,250 for wall insulation, and $1,250 for crawl space insulation.

• Requirements:

  • Work must be performed by a Colorado contractor.

  • Insulation R-values must meet the U.S. Department of Energy recommended ratings:

    • Crawl space: R-15 continuous insulation (CI).

    • Attic: R-49.

    • Exterior wall: R-13.

  • Attic insulation must include bypass air sealing.

• Application Process:

  1. Keep a receipt of the work that includes contractor information, product details, cost, and payment.

  2. Review the rebate application for complete details.

  3. Complete and submit the application by mail or online through My Account.

Black Hills Energy (BHE):

BHE offers rebates for insulation improvements as part of their Residential Energy Efficiency Program:

• Rebate Amounts:

  • Attic Insulation: $0.50 per square foot.

  • Wall Insulation: $1.00 per square foot.

  • Air Sealing/Duct Sealing: 50% of the cost.

• Requirements:

  • Insulation and sealing measures must meet specific efficiency criteria as outlined in BHE’s program details.

• Application Process:
